The RMTF is a new 24,950 SF, 3-building complex for the Weapons Field Training Battalion (WFTBn) housing four Marksmanship Training Units. The mission of the WFTBn is to provide instruction to recruits in rifle marksmanship, other individual weapons, combat field training, and designated Marine Corps Common Skills (MCCS), as well as to facilitate the conducting of the Crucible in accordance with the Program of Instruction (POI) in order to support the making of the highest quality United States Marine.

The RMTF generally includes three broad functional areas: Academic Instruction Section (AIS), Marksmanship Training Unit (MTU), and Range Company (RC). The buildings are constructed of CMU with steel roof framing. Site circulation for recruits has wide paths and staging areas to allow convenient and efficient flow. On-site renew-able energy of 185 kW DC of solar PV to attain a net-zero electric building.
